Nike News Update: Four Collabs and a Grand Opening in Dubai
The AMBUSH x Nike Collaboration
Following a handful of sneak-peeks, Nike and AMBUSH have finally released their full collaborative collection, which includes some much-hyped sneakers and a reversible fur jacket. Certainly being one of the most sought-after pieces in this collection, the faux fur jacket reveals a large Swoosh on the shadowy mint reverse and a white alternative reverse. Other items in the apparel collaboration include tracksuits, fleece sweatpants, co-branded T-shirts, Dry-Fit Stretch tights and silver and gold metallic jackets. This capsule release also allowed us the best look yet at Nike’s recently updated Air Max 180 design.
Being an awesome result of this latest collaboration; the mid-top boot version of the original design has been officially displayed in two colourways, white and black, and is said to be inspired by the archival Air Zoom Flight, “The Glove.” In case you don’t know, AMBUSH is a contemporary Japanese jewelry label founded by designers Verbal and Yoon back in 2008. The company has since partnered with a multitude of street brands and designers such as A Bathing Ape, Nigo, Maison Kitsuné, Sacai and Undercover. Their most recent capsule collab with Nike is set to be released at an event in Paris on December 3rd followed by events in Tokyo and Shanghai. The Air Max 180 sneaker is expected to be released in Spring 2019.
The HERON PRESTON x Nike Tailwind HP
After much anticipation, Heron Preston and Nike are teaming up to release their sunglasses collaboration. The artist, creative director, content creator, D.J, and clothing designer is a man of many talents and a much-loved cultural icon among today’s youth. He has been known for collaborating with prominent influencers like Virgil Abloh and Kanye West alongside his most recent works like UNIFORM. Preston was also one of the founding members of the D.K., art and fashion collective, BEEN TRILL and digital producer for Nike. The new design comes with a variety of inter-changeable lenses and features a lightweight contoured eyewear frame created for optimum sports function. The collab also features Nike’s MAX Optics glass, combined with a Flying Lens setting which provides clarity from all angles while reducing fogging. The new shades are set to release on November 29th at select Nike and Heron Preston retailers.
Nike Dubai Opens its Doors to Largest Mall in the Middle East
Covering over 35,000 square feet in The Dubai Mall, Nike’s continuation of retail domination around the world is only getting bigger. The new location welcomed customers on December 1st and saw the celebration of the Air Max Plus. The 35,400-square-foot space, which formerly accommodated a Kinokuniya bookstore, features unique experiential environments like a salon, modular themed areas that can be changed if needed, exclusive events and workshops alongside awesome stations throughout the store where customers can customize jerseys, sneakers, tees and more. Being one of the largest retail spaces for the sportswear giant, Nike Dubai marks the brand’s new Middle Eastern flagship as a must-visit destination for fashion enthusiasts around the globe.
A-COLD-WALL* x Nike Collection
A-COLD-WALL* and Nike have recently released a complimentary apparel collection to build upon the duo’s Zoom Vomero +5 collab. The new range features sculptural silhouettes made of innovative fabrics. Some must-have pieces in this collab collection include an all-over print jersey with quilted forearm portions, a convertible functional long coat and some track pants with adjustability behind the knee sections & water-resistant technical caps. To celebrate the striking new designs, Dover Street Market Los Angeles is holding a special installation that features the DSM Nike ACW* Staff Boiler suit and a limited number of rubber dipped tote bags. The recent collab is available now at select Nike and A-COLD-WALL* retailers.
Martine Rose's Nike Collaboration
Earlier this year, Nike revealed that Martine Rose, Yoon and Sarah Andelman would be joining the sportswear giant to offer a trio of collaborative releases, marking a significant step for the brand, who until now has mostly collaborated with male designers. Recently surfaced details on Martine Rose’s collab with Nike have confirmed rumors that the London-based designer would offer her own interpretation of the Nike Monarch. In an interview with Vogue, Rose explained how, “We took a silhouette based on a very British tracksuit that you might get in JD Sports… Then, we created a trainer inspired by Nike’s Monarch Style, which is a very middle-America-dad trainer.” The Vogue interview also revealed that a portion of the collaboration would be available to buy on Craigslist.
